The Yogurt health benefits, good for young and old

Spread the love

Our family loves to eat yogurt, I always make sure we have it in the fridge so it is always included in my weekly grocery list. I opt to buy the 6 pack 125g cups for most savings.

yogurt in strawberry flavor

Eating yogurt daily brings many health and nutritional benefits to our body. It’s a low fat snack with tasty flavors and delicious fruit pieces like strawberry, berry mix, raspberry apple and more. According to Wikipedia, the cow’s milk is most commonly used to make a yogurt and is produced using a culture of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus bacteria, moreover other lactobacilli and bifidobacteria are also sometimes added during or after culturing yogurt.
People who suffer from lactose intolerance can enjoy yogurt for it is easier to digest than milk. It is a nutritionally rich source of protein, calcium, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12.
Yogurt can boost immunity because it stimulates infection-fighting white cells in the bloodstream.  The friendly bacteria in it deactivates the harmful substances long before they can become carcinogenic. The lacto-bacteria lowers the risk of colon cancer.
For people who are under antibiotic medication, eating yogurt is recommended because it serves as a chaser for antibiotics which is effective in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
A cup of yogurt contains atleast 1.25 billion Live micro-organisms that will keep a tummy healthy. My youngest son adds a cup of yogurt when making a milkshake, it makes his drink much creamier and tastier.
It is usually the family’s midnight snack during weekends after watching a good dvd movie.

  1. I love yogurt! Sometimes, I’d stick a tub in the freezer for a few hours and then take it out for a healthier alternative to ice cream.
