Gala Apple is the family’s favorite when it comes to apple varieties. My youngest son can finish three in one sitting. I am very glad that my children choose fruits over chips for a snack. They already had the habit of eating fruits daily and their day is not complete without it.
Typically these apples are small but they are sweet, grainy with a thinner skin than most apples. Its firmness, crispness and sweetness made it excellent both eating and baking. Gala is a cross or clonally propagated between world’s most distinctive apple varieties of the Kidd’s Orange Red and Golden Delicious, the reason why some are yellow-gold with pink to red stripes, while some Gala strains may be nearly solid red.
When buying these apples choose the firm ones and avoid the ones with soft or dark spots. They may be very small but a good source of Dietary Fiber and Vitamin C. A recommended baon for kids too!
